HISTORY
Since the 1960s, Myers Critical Power Solutions has evolved from a regional power solutions provider into a trusted provider of critical power and intelligent energy infrastructure solutions across North America. Our history reflects our continued focus on reliability, innovation, and trusted support.
Myers Critical Power Solutions was originally founded in the mid-60s under Computer Products, Inc., a prominent US-based high-technology electronics manufacturer that specialized in commercial, industrial, and military power conversion devices, including AC/DC linear and switching power supplies and DC-DC converters.
From the mid-60s through the late 1990s, Computer Products, Inc. grew steadily through its subsidiaries and technology-based acquisitions, remaining primarily focused on power conversion systems and power modules engineered for large C&I applications.
In 2000, CPI's C&I power distribution segment was acquired by Myers Power Products, Inc. The acquisition added emergency backup power systems to Myers' portfolio and served as a key stepping stone in their expansion into advanced power and electronic distribution systems.
As the electrical industry evolved, so did we. In 2018, the company emerged as its own standalone organization, Myers Emergency & Power Systems, dedicated exclusively to the technologies powering life safety, emergency lighting, and critical infrastructure applications.
With renewed focus came new investment. In 2019, we acquired LVS Controls, expanding our technology leadership into complementary emergency bypass lighting controls.
In 2021, Myers EPS was acquired by our parent company, Kohlberg & Company, a leading private equity firm with over $14 billion in committed capital equity. This milestone allowed us to further accelerate our technology investments, expand our capabilities, and has positioned us for sustained growth.
Another key turning point came in 2024, with Kohlberg backing our transformative acquisition of Storage Power Solutions, a leading developer of modular battery storage platforms, bringing to life our EnerShed BESS portfolio.
Today, we are evolving from Myers EPS to Myers Critical Power Solutions, reflecting the growth of our business beyond traditional emergency lighting and life safety applications.
While reliability remains at the core of what we do, our focus now spans critical backup power, motor and mixed-load applications, energy storage, and intelligent energy management technologies.
This evolution represents our transformation into a diversified provider of critical power and energy infrastructure solutions, helping customers power, protect, and optimize the systems they depend on most.
